A drama that shows you reality

My main reason for watching tomorrow was lee soo hyuk. But in the end its everything about this drama that made me stay. The first episode was marely setting the premises.
Tomorrow is based on the webtoon with same name but other than the drama name, character names and sub plots the drama was very different from the webtoon.
Every sub story made me cry rivers. The pain and the reasons why people choose to end their lives weren't grand but they were realistic.
I love lee soo hyuk but Yoon Jion was a surprise for me in this drama. Lim Ryun gu and his mother's arc made me cry a lot. I hope you get lot of work after tomorrow.
Kim Hee sun is obviously a star and no one would have played this role better than her. Rowoon is the best idol turned actor i would say. Choi Jun woong was a kind hearted person and deserved good things only.
There is nothing I disliked except I think Park Joong Gil deserved a better ending but since tomorrow was not romance I will still accept what we got.
The lessons that this drama taught I hope people can implement them in their lives.
We need more dramas like this.

A DRAMA I WOULD RE-WATCH OVER AND OVER AGAIN

Tomorrow was my comfort drama during the weekends. It served as my reward for a job well done during the workdays. Some might find the theme disturbing but it tackles the topics the society has to recognize in order for us to live in a less cruel world.

The cast were well picked and they gave their characters the justice it deserves. I must say Kim Hee Sun slayed her character as Koo Ryeon, a modern girl boss with a tragic Joseon past. Her over-all aura in the series made me want to grow up exactly like her sans the tragic past but not excluding Park Joong Gil my latest dream guy. I was just sad that her story with Joong Gil was revealed in the latter part. It would have brought us much more pain knowing earlier that Joong Gil was Ryeon's husband. I was suspicious of Joong Gil's character on the first part of the series. However I fell in love with him on his Joseon Era. His love for Ryeon was so true and pure that it surpassed several lifetimes. The transition of his cold gaze and stare turned into looks of love and longing for his wife melted my heart. I mean. He's one of a KIND! Who doesn't want a man like that? A man who is ready to protect and sacrifice.

I had a gut feeling that there will be a Season 2 because it is open ended and hints were dropped in the last two episodes. Before the end of the episode, my suspicion would be a prequel where it will feature the back stories of the reapers in the Joseon era especially Joong Gil after the death of Ryeon. But when Ryeon mentioned "After 50 years" the plot for the possible Season 2 was sealed. Nevertheless, it was an excellent drama the ending was happy yet open ended but it doesn't make it a less appealing one. So netflix & mbc, the netizens are clamoring for a second season! Why not give us the S2 we deserve?

Incredibly emotional - bring tissues!!

I don't think I've ever watched a TV series that made me feel so many different feelings. I cried during so many episodes. Sadness, happiness, empathy, sympathy and compassion.

The main characters are deep with beautiful stories, and the people they work to save have incredible stories of their own, we can learn a lot by paying attention to what they teach in this show. I will remember these lessons and make an effort to live a better life thankful for what I have after seeing so many people who have had things worse or have felt a hopelessness that I have personally never had to face.

This is definitely a ahow I recommend to anyone who enjoys feeling the broad spectrum of virtually everything within the time span of an episode. I howpe others enjoy it as much as I have.

A bit sad but happy ending

Most episodes of the series are sad which I normally don't go for but I am content with the ending. I was perfect and not illogical or incomplete as the last couple of episodes were hinting at.

The story is kind of mixed but overall is about a team of grim reapers who saves people from committing sucides.
I think it would have been presented a bit better if they would have include more scenes showing how happy people's lives long were after they were saved.

A bit rushed ending but I liked it. It's kind of perfect. As him having his memories would have been illogical and since living humans cant be grim reapers he cants just to stay fully alive and continued working.

2 things I didn't like about the series
* Sad
* They started with something else but the base story was changed as the episodes progressed.

If you want to watch it, buy some tissues.

Although being the Grim Reaper is associated with taking lives, here we meet a very unique team - the Crisis Management Team, which is dedicated to discouraging people from committing suicide.
In almost every episode, we follow the fate of another unhappy man standing on the edge of the abyss, thanks to which we learn many painful stories. We also learn about the backstories of the main characters, the Reapers.
I think you can learn something valuable from every story in this series. And cry, so for those who plan to watch this series - I recommend buying a large amount of tissues.

Phenomenal

This drama is truly excellent. The writing, the acting, the production, everything was amazing. I will assume that you have read the synopsis and are aware of just how dark this show can be. This show brings up extremely upsetting and heartbreaking topics, forcing us as viewers to acknowledge their existence and see what damage they can cause. I do warn you that the episodes can be extremely hard to watch so be sure to check descriptions so that you can prepare yourself some. Overall, this drama is absolutely fantastic and I highly recommend that you watch it.

A sad fairy tale

Tomorrow had many aspects that truly appealed to me: a compelling cast and an exciting setting with grim reapers and ghosts. I'd say that in itself was enough to give this drama a try. I personally think that episodic dramas can be very addicting if they're done right. Tomorrow concentrated on dark and sad stories where our main characters were working to keep people from taking their own life. I liked the narrative of "the one who can save you is you yourself" because, let's be real, most of us are struggling with things in our lives, be it body image or self-confidence. Those are things that we humans are usually our own enemies. Someone might have brought your confidence down at some point but you decided to believe their words. I feel like that narrative truly is heartbreaking when you think about it. I related to some of these stories and cried over most of them. Death as a topic is definitely risky for a drama but I think that Tomorrow did moderately well with the Christian model that they had chosen. I do not agree with heaven and hell and most definitely I do not think that suicide is a sin. However, in a drama, that idea is an interesting topic to discuss.
Now to my least favorite part of the drama. The overall plot of the main characters was disappointing. While I enjoyed the episodic stories, I can not really say the same about the main characters. The show brushed past too many interesting plot points and characters but decided to do nothing with them. Joon Woong's friend and the last girl that they saved were almost completely brushed aside in the last episode and I thought it was very disappointing. Considering that he was the first character introduced, I wished they had cared a little bit more about his story. Goo Ryung and Joong Gil's story was so much anticipated but it truly fell flat. They showed too many flashbacks and bits in the earlier episodes that when the final story finally was shown, I felt like I had already seen all of this. There was nothing new from what I had already gathered.
In episodic dramas, I personally feel like the smaller stories obviously have to be good but you can't abandon your main characters. In Tomorrow I truly felt like the main three main characters mentioned above ended up not feeling like the main characters at all.

Thank you for surviving and for holding on.

Beautiful stories of survival with plenty of tear jerker moments. Overall, I really enjoyed this drama, and I appreciate that they stayed true to the rule of their universe, not trying to give unexplained exceptions at the end for the leads that seem to happen a lot in Kdrama. The episodes were really well done and beautifully presented, the only one I didn't quite enjoy was the 2nd to last episode where I thought it fell rather flat. I'd definitely recommend this drama, but with a trigger warning attached. Story aside, I really love the costumes (loving Koo Ryeon's wardrobe in particular).

i thought it was fantastic . the main guy is super duper cute i really really like him. i understand that the way it handled suicide could have been better-- they seem to show recovery and survival that can be achieved with a few words of encouragement and self-affirmation, but i mean really IMO i think they just suicide as a vessel to discuss broader topics of sexual harassment and structural sexism . they talked about comfort women, returning ladies, kisaengs, and more modern examples such as workplace harassment, outdated r/pe victim laws (and accompanying social stigma), idol industry, etc. like these are tons and tons of examples of where women are oppressed under the state and i think even if the theme of suicide wasn't as nuanced as it could be ,the purpose of the show was to bring in light to a completely different topic and by focusing more on depression/mental health/etc it would actually take away the focus from these themes. yes these topics are still important but it makes sense why they took more of a secondary role in this drama. anyway that was just my opinion. i think its a very solid show. my only criticism is that they occasionally spoon feed you plot information like they just dump a whole bunch of lore (spoiler: when the grim reaper enters his own dream LOL) and i think they did that cuz they were running out of time lol and so it feels a tad lazy (this only really appeared towards the end).

An wonderful journey thay i had till now

I dont want tomorrow to end tbh....ik it deals with serious topic but these are topic that make us face reality make us understand something and tbh its still taboo concept which now people need to be comfortable with to talk to.

I loved every bits of the eps i saw. Its one of my first time to watch a on going drama as i always wait till drama to get over as coz of lack of patience. But for no apparent reason i just didnt wanna wait for this drama to end tl watch it. So i waited every week. Its feels like a victory for me to be this patient.

This drama is a balanced funnyz serioys when it needs to be be. It didnt get me bore. I didnt even skip anything. The actor and actresses, each character who played outshined their role. Rowoon showed his capability , yes people might say he overdid and all but for me it was perfect. This much what he did is fine and needed for a serious drama like this other wise it might get too serious and loose to interest sometimes. I may have not read the tomorrow webtoon so idk about the other things or how the story was in the bk.

But whatevr i saw the actor, actresses worked so good , the cast was matching with their roles. So good casting. Whatever music was their was good. The story yes some people there were some this issue or that but yeah the dog ep might be liked by everyone but it was alright for me....there are loop holes in this drama too but its bearable....it doesnt affect much....the story makers tried to make it as logical or reasonable as possible.

It was worth of my time and i liked it!! Mostly loved it!!! I hope it worth of your time too!!!

The Good Kind of Heavy

I just finished this drama minutes ago and so my review is very much still fresh out of the oven,
but I just have to share my love for this drama because it is really THAT GOOD.

I honestly want to bow down before webtoon writer, scrip writer, director, actor & everyone involved in this production because this drama is now easily in my top 3 dramas of all time.

Let me just say I am a mentally unstable potato and so a drama that focuses on line between life and death as well as the consequences of various issues such as su1cde, death, bullying, historical crimes, crimes against women, etc. would probably not be good for a person like me BUT it did the complete opposite. This drama helped me heal in a way.
It was entertaining as hell (pun intended), the bits of comedy were always so on point but most importantly the cases would each take 1-2 episodes and ending was always satisfying and the issues were resolved. No plot was dragged out or made me feel frustrated beyond the ending of an episode.
I also learned about korean history in some of the episodes, which were incredibly well shot and I have to say EVERY guest star/role was perfectly casted and acted. I loved the diversity of the cases; it humanized taboo topics without getting too serious.
I really liked that the drama was episodic and it did not have one fixed storyline that it followed; in terms of story-telling it reminded of American TV Shows mid 2010s (not to say it's old fashioned! not at all)

I used to watch a lot of shows like The Vampire Diaries and so the supernatural aspect of cold grim reapers was just HOT.
Lee Soo Hyuk for sure knows what characters suit him well. I was hiding under my blanket with one eye out because he had INSANE charisma and chemistry (not gonna say more)

The cinematography and CGI in this drama are top notch and made this whole project a S-Tier production.

For me this is a 10/10 drama; which is a rating I give out very rarely and the fact that the ending matched the rest of the episodes was just chef's kiss. I LOVED THE FINALE.
There is room for a season 2 but it does not feel unfinished nor rushed (which was a fear of mine in advance).

Happy watching!

One Step Forwards, One Step Back

Normally I keep clear from dramas with idols heading main roles. This isn’t anything to do with a personal grudge but just personal preference with certain genres. I can’t say that Rowoon was familiar to me but KHS was a familiar face and despite my mixed feelings for Alice, I really liked her performance and was interested to see her here after reading fairly positive reviews.

I have to say that while I have fortunately been able to read some of the webcomic, the concept of Tomorrow isn’t entirely original per say. Grim reapers, bureaucrat afterlife, we’ve seen it done and played out before and there wasn’t really a lot that Tomorrow added on the fantasy element in my honest opinion.

I think where its hidden strengths did lie came from as a lot of reviewers have said before its messages. To be fair while I have seen a great deal of Korean dramas, I have heard from friends and fans alike that typically South-Korean mainstream media tends to be more reserved and conservative about certain issues especially in the world of TV.

Therefore I think it was pretty forward of the writing team to deal with a lot of different problems and issues AND make a point of addressing them. But I do have to honestly agree with the majority here when it came to the actual plot and character writing. The show didn’t really know what it wanted to be.

I’m not saying that the plot was nonexistent and even as a casual viewer I could see the obvious plot goals but it was very poorly put together especially as we had whole episodes which rarely tied events and then the final few episodes tried to cram in about eight episodes worth of content into a short space of time.

I think while Goblin has always had a love- hate relationship for me it was at least self aware as a fantasy series with attempting to buildup plot and tie this in with characters. Tomorrow made the fatal mistake of being lost in trying to make a profound statement about society in Korea but didn’t really go forwards with its actual plot. I think if they had built this up better from the start then it could’ve been different but the outcome felt incomplete.

I would say Tomorrow is one of those bang in the middle shows. It isn’t bad but it isn’t flawless either. It has an intriguing premise and the cast were good too. The writing was messy but I guess if you like something with a bit of defiance against the status quo romance and sweetness of other dramas then you’ll like it.
