This is a true feel-good series.
This series so sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet...x infinity! It just warmed my heart to no end. Nozue and Togawa are just great characters and the actors playing them did an awesome job. I loved them both and really felt for them both a lot. The girls date and girls talk are just too great to imagine. The antiaging efforts too were something that really added depth and unexpected life feelings and emotions into this series. Though I loved both characters I have to give my best lead to Kimura Tatsunari. His scenes where he opened up and then backed off are deserved of an award. Though I really loved this series I feel like it could have developed the story and had longer and or more episodes. Once again i will say that sometimes less is more and sometimes something works because it leaves the viewer craving for more! Congrats to all who were responsible for making this series. This is a true feel-good series. Was this review helpful to you?
I hesitated at first..... and then i questioned my dumb ass on why i ever did that !!!
Ok... so.. First of alll... as i am a major BL fan, .. my Instagram feed was filled with 'old fashion cupcake' posts... expecially the iconic kiss scene was the one which cought my attention.I wanted to check the ratings first so i visited many sites for this drama's reviews. All of them were above 8/10. I badly hesitated and i really don't know why. But anyways... i gave it a go !!!
And im GLAD i did so. It was such a beautifully adopted story with less unnecessary dialogues and the growth of romance between the 2 characters were so realistic. And flawless!
They brought up the story so smoothly and addictively in just 5 episodes... and it was surprisingly really satisfying. Some scenes.. you dont see it coming at all!
You guys might hesitate too... but if you liked the BL 'life love on line' , you will definitely love this one too.
I was so dumb that i almost rejected this drama... this is such a soothing one night binge watch drama. But.. as we have different tastes... i cant garrentee that you'll like it... But i would DEFINITELY recommend it.. It was really marvelous. I loved it l.. wish thay have a ss 2... or another drama with the same leads . Finally. . I love u ... enjoy binge watching ... bye bye !!!!!

Having an age Gap or a minority is the same as having different hometowns... It's nothing.
Togawa's determination to pull Nozue out of his daily boring routine is beginning to turn to love. Nozue is confused over his feelings for him. Togawa doesn't even realize what he's doing but wishes Nozue well. The love between the two is thickening and there's no denying of their chemistry. I love episode 4 the best as Togawa pours out his heart in a rare show of emotion. The reason I like Old Fashion Cupcake is it simplicity and the fact that there's strong love between Togawa and Nozue. Here's a show that you won't forget you won't find boring you will always rewatch you will find realistic and you will love ? with your soul body and mind! Here's the story of 29 years Togawa and 39 years old Nozue the age Gap doesn't matter! Was this review helpful to you?

Good storyline with good acting.
My all-time problem with BL i watched is the acting. Most of the time the actors involved are usually someone who is new and just started acting. I found some of the acting is lacklustre and don’t have depth to it. But its different for this drama. I went with zero expectations and I didnt know who the actors. They did great job portraying their characters and showing emotions. The kiss scene is also good and not 1 dimension like other BL. Takeda Kouhei voice is just *chef kiss* , my fav for some reason haha. The plot is also good but its unusual. I found in one of the site I watch that the society in this drama is a bit different. In normal world or at least in my Asian society, boys going to dessert shop are unusual. Its unusual but it fit with the story line.
I love the build up of this drama. From them knowing each other and going to dessert shop together to them falling to each other. Episode 4 during that one scene is just full of dialogue that I would want to paste it on my wall. Ending is just perfect for them.
Wishing for season 2 to happen even though the chance is low TT

Sweet and delightful just like a cupcake
This is a treat for the older audience like me who enjoy calm and beautiful romance slowly unfolding. The manga was everything to me, its rare to find a BL series about life itself dealing with realistic problems. So when they announced the adaptation, I could only just squeal in excitement!Takeda and Tasunari are exceptional for their roles, they really delivered a realistic approach so its hard not to root for their characters. I think what a make or break for me in every BL series I watched is the acting. If the actors are not sincere it will not only ruin the chemistry but the story itself. But thankfully the actors did an amazing portrayal, the last time I was moved by a good performance from a BL series was from Mood Indigo and The cornered mouse dream of cheese and I can guarantee you this two are the epitome of the BEST BL series I've seen. So its a big feat for OFC to create a beautiful series in just a short amount of time that it became impactful and groundbreaking example for what a BL series should be, a story with a heart.

loved it
It was so well done, loved the storyline, how it was all set up. the acting was good. And they had good chemistry. Def going to rewatch this in the future. The last episode, the last couple of minutes felt a bit flat for me, maybe one more episode would have helped. But the show was so well done. And adorable. super great Job!Loved all the call backs to when they first met or started working together and it wast just overal super cute. I loved how it kinda seemed like they switched personalities from when they first met and the in the present of the show. It felt like a nice touch. Also Now I want pancakes haha. They looked really good. it was sweet how they kept finding places to go with each other and admitted after a while that they just loved hanging out.
A wholesome story and couple.

Another BL CLASSIC FROM JAPAN
This joins my top 3 all time list from Japan which has My Beautiful Man as #1 and Kieta Hatsukoi as #2... this was so light hearted and fun and beautiful all wrapped up into one.. I thought 5 episodes would be too short to tell the story but they did it so beautifully I didn't feel like it was rushed at all. .the chemistry is exceptional.. Japan delivers yet again. Hope we see more of these actors one day I really enjoyed the concept and plot of the age gap and it felt so real as we all deal with the feelings of growing older and not knowing what to do with the rest of our lives. Was this review helpful to you?
Watching this drama felt like getting the best hug of your life.
Walking into a bakery and the scent of freshly baked goods engulfs you.....this is the feeling I get from watching this drama.Though it was short it delivered well and was executed perfectly so it didn't feel rushed at all.
The acting was suberb and they picked the right people to act the right roles. The comedy was just enough to make me laugh but not overbaring....the romance was perfect and I'm not lying I smiled at me screen from episod 1-5.
I loved the fact that there was no unnecessary arguements or any annoyingly avoidable lack of communication.
All in all this drama was just the cutest little thing and once again I can confidently say that Japan has delivered a perfect drama.

Inappropriately Good
A short review for a short drama. It's fast-paced. It starts off strong and finishes on a good note. The banter between the two characters is easy to follow and very spicy at times, it's easy to forget that they are work colleagues and boss/subordinates. Just like they forget most times too.
That's where the inappropriate aspect comes in. There's low-key flirting, high-key flirting, and all-around foolery regarding personal boundaries and what is work appropriate. The term 's**ual harassment' comes up about four times in the drama but the actual act happens many more times and yet it seems consensual but there's no verbal agreement that it's okay. (Hmm??)
I will say that the camera work, the music and soundtrack, and the acting were superb. I enjoyed the small moments of voice-over and narration. It didn't take me out of the story and it fit the short and intimate drama pretty well. The flashback scenes help with backstory and character development. I understood the choices and thought processes of the main characters a bit after those flashbacks happened. This was overall a well-written story and I would like to see the original manga to read/see more details that may have not made it into the Live Action version.
The acting between the two actors was hands down enjoyable. I cried when they were sad, I laughed when they were having fun and I cringed when there were awkwardness and spicy moments happening. In my head, I'm screaming and in real life, I'm squealing because, HOW DID YOU GUYS GET INTO THIS POSITION?! No wait, don't tell me... My heart can only take so much.
The drama is shorter than I expected and I could definitely use a second season but it's perfect the way it is. I'm starting to really enjoy the office romance genre thanks to this drama and Cherry Magic. I like the adult and mature themes of aging and allowing yourself to enjoy life, try something new, and accept love when it falls into your lap - no matter your age.

Best JBL of 2022, good comfort show
This was such an amazing watch due to way too many factors that I can't list them all down. The boss-worker dynamic is so well executed by Kimura and Takeda and they did such a good job relaying the emotions felt by their characters. You can feel how they truly feel about each other just by their minor facial movements like goddd. They have such overflowing chemistry I don't get how it's so easily achievable by both of them ?
The pacing of the show is shockingly great. Nothing felt rushed and everything went at the pace that it should although the show is so short. The development of feelings of Nozue towards Togawa is so distinct and you can tell how he means more and more to him as the show progresses.
THE PRODUCTION OF THE SHOW IS EVERYTHING. They nailed the various camera angles that made the show so much more impactful, there weren't any unnecessary sound effects throughout the whole show, and there aren't any filler scenes that make you get bored of the show. Every scene has its significance and makes the show so easy to get engrossed in.
This show is totally worth rewatching, especially since it is only 5 episodes long and can be finished within 2 hours (they should have given us more I can't believe it's over). Also watching this gives me so much serotonin. Just rewatch it. Now I no longer have to go through the pain of waiting for a whole ass month for the full series to be released ^^
In conclusion, best JBL of 2022 (of all time imo), definitely has a space in my heart.

sweet like the title
This mini drama is honestly a gem, from the story to the acting and the photography too everything is 10/10? I didnt read the comic and from the description I though it was more on the silly side but?? it's definitely not. The thing I liked the most is for sure the fact that even though we're talking about a romance drama, even if you're younger you can really relate to the struggles of Nozue as an adult, i loveee when in dramas they're like "even if you're not a teen anymore, it's not too late for trying new things, love too" because life nowadays is always so rushed, it's easy to feel like our protagonist. And then Togawa! I love him, such a sweet and caring guy (kind of unhinged too, god bless) the scene on episode 4 broke me, kudos to the actor?? Their conversations are so natural (which is a thing I said in my semantic error review too lmao) and? I don't know, I think if you like food as a form of comfort tm and some great life lessons + the sweetest couple you should definitely start this ♡ ??season two, maybe? Was this review helpful to you?

a show you cant forget
the first time i picked up this drama, i didnt think i'd be this obsessed lmao but i did (still do to be honest). while waiting for new episode to drop, i found myself rewatching the episodes that were already released. it is really that good.i always love office romance and age-gap story where the main characters meet when they are both adults. this drama provide both of them perfectly.i love the character development from being a bored adult to someone who enjoy their adulthood, showing us that adults are allowed to try new things, to fall in love, and to experience life the way teenagers do.
dont even get me started on the romance. it's just perfect. the confession scene is my most favorite, i almost tearing up when i watch it. their kissing scene is also one that we will never forget.the acting is also really good. their chemistry is amazing. we can all feel the longing from both characters. the actors had done a really good job.
all in all, it's amazing. one you cant forget.
