LOL, they are literally buried, poor things. I confess now and then I feel compassion and in the past I went as far as to give a couple of early reviewer a "helpful" vote, just to reassure them they are not completely lost in the cosmic void. :P

This said, it's also true that episode reviews are are not helpful, per se, not in the way a review can be. First of all because they are spoilerish by nature, and second because they look more like a confessional, where we describe our feelings while watching. Mind you, this is not a critic to episode reviews, they are fun, but if one truly wants to get an impression of a drama and decide to watch it or ignore it, nothing beats a good review. Which takes us back to what a good review is. :p

Jeaniessi wrote: I don't think we should dictate who gets to write reviews or how they write them. That is not fair or right. I think people abide by the rule or if they don't want to do that...expect a whole lot of unhelpfuls.

Any actual rules or action taken would definitely be up to The SKYE IN THE SKY.

I for one wouldn't be in favour of restricting the right to review to anyone. While I find the "clarvoyant review" quite silly, it's not as if they disturbed me, or they took away room for better reviewers to write their own. I suppose being showered with tons of unhelpful votes is good enough a deterrent. If not... they still provide food for debate here, don't they? ;)
What sense does it actually make writing a review after just watching an ep??.... As in 1 ep, when you still have some 15 or at most 9 eps to cover. If you're soooo in need to write a review, there's is the EPISODE GUIDE, just click on it and write a review on the ep you've just finished watching. I'm pretty sure you can write as much as you want. Then when you're done watching the drama, you can write a proper review or not.

I mean no offense...... Things just need to be done in the right way..... I also write reviews when I have itchy fingers :p
But we are a website for fortune telling! :D

Just as it was mentioned before it always annoyed me to see a review for a new drama on DC and they give 100%......

My dear they don't help at all. So I developed a methode!

JUST READ THE REVIEWS OF TRUSTED DRAMA ADDICTS!

Here on MDL I also just read the reviews of a few SELECTED ones.

I have my personal reviewers of reference too. ;)
However, I tend to consider any well written, informative review helpful and many times have given them my approval without having watched the drama myself.
With only a couple of episodes seen, a review can't possibly be informative, hence it's useless. Or fortune telling, lol.
Its definitly fortune telling.

Maybe I should go and make a review for I Miss You, I mean I watched both trailers. Hey now I can write a review for that drama.

EXACTLY!!! I give reviews helpful if they are ....wait for it... HELPFUL! Whether I have watched or not, if I consider it well thought out and it helped me... Logical choice. Both for dramas I have seen and for dramas I have not.

I don't consider reviews a popularity contest for the person writing it or the hottie starring in it. Even if I don't necessarily AGREE with their numbers or assessment. If it is well written and helpful to watching the drama. I click helpful..

The button does not say AGREE OR DISAGREE.
Raincat wrote: I repeat mine oppinion from earlier post - review option must be activated with drama release ending date.

only problem with that is a lot of us don't watch new dramas as they air but prefer to wait for the whole thing to be released before starting to watch it. these folks could still then write a review after only one episode.

maybe reviews just need to be er.. reviewed.. by a moderator before they are published, and any that break the rules are discarded and not posted to the site. it would suck to have to nitpick through everyone's reviews like this just because of a few stubborn people who refuse to follow rules
maybe we need a seperate little feature, like a shoutbox, where we can write about something we're currently watching on an informal basis. like "I'm watching ___ and here's what I think so far:" that would be in a seperate area not listed as a review but just more like a little chatbox where people can throw in their 2 cents and everyone can choose to read it or not without annoying those who are looking for serious reviews
Man this thread is HOT "looks around" oh, hahahaha I just don't read reviews before the show has finished airing, so, no skin off my nose if somebody posts one :D
Jeaniessi wrote: Because they don't read the rules. Which clearly state you should watch the drama before reviewing.

I ALWAYS UNHELPFUL a review that is done before the drama is even complete...

I am not alone.

P.S... PLEASE STOP DOING IT! Because you don't know how the drama will turn out until it's done and miracle of miracles!!! we have EPISODE REVIEWS.

Thank you.

My thoughts exactly, nothing to add... grr... UNHELPFUL~!

lol, that is soo true. Sadly, I think there are lots of people here on MDL who don't see a difference between a word 'helpful' and 'agree'.
Recaps! Yes that's what I was thinking for episode by episode. We should have like some episode recap area or something. Unless we do and I'm just not completely acquainted with the site yet I thought me and the site knew each other well from that one amazing *insert drama cliche romantic moment scene thing* XD Ahem anyway. Yeah I think people need to read rules more. I always try to read rules. Sometimes I miss stuff but I'm just human and college makes you feel all wonky. But anyway I like reviews for seeing what others thought of a drama. I use that to weigh my options. I just want something detailed to tell me a bit about what I am thinking of watching and if it would be a good or waste of my time. If a majority of people say no I can go off merrily and find one. Often times too I hesitate about historical dramas because I always seem to find the most depressing ones D: God Everyone dies! So yeah I use reviews for that but reviews have just been lacking so much. And yay me for opening a can of worms with this thread teehee~

Oh Trust me, This worm can has been stinking up the joint for a while now...
Yeah it's just been bothering me a lot lately and I couldn't keep it in anymore more when I saw a review that was this: "!!!!.....!!!!" WTF IS THAT?! D< And no don't ask me where it is because I closed out fo there so fast I didn't take time to see what the drama was. But seriously wtf? D<

Very true. To be honest, this aspect irritates me more than early reviews. I have read beautiful reviews, well detailed without being spoilerish, with useful infos and where the reviewers explained why they liked that particular drama and yet they got a lot of "unhelpful" votes. It's as clear as crystal that those reviews met the wrath of someone who did not like the drama.
I know the can of worms in object is another one, but I can't help it: I hate to see good reviews bashed because they don't respond to the taste of someone else. To me, this particular can stinks more.

Forgive me for the off-topic rant.
