I have read beautiful reviews, well detailed without being spoilerish, with useful infos and where the reviewers explained why they liked that particular drama and yet they got a lot of "unhelpful" votes. It's as clear as crystal that those reviews met the wrath of someone who did not like the drama.
I know the can of worms in object is another one, but I can't help it: I hate to see good reviews bashed because they don't respond to the taste of someone else. To me, this particular can stinks more.

Forgive me for the off-topic rant.

I've seen this too. I've actually noticed it on one of yours in particular... As always it was a Great review! and I immediately thought... What in the @#$%%^&&*%@#!!!! ???

lol (Sorry for threadjacking a little bit...I'll stop)

Believe me, I was not thinking of mine. The most hated ones I posted fully aware of how they were going to be reiceived - and in some cases, I confess it was my purpose to stir the water, so to speak, so I suppose I simply got what I asked for.
No, I actually had one of yours in mind, and Evony's too - lol, I swear, I'm not trying to lick your boots.
And I'll stop too, lest we get the unhelpful button on thread posts too. ;)
Replying to OP, yes I hate this especially! Before finding this website I had great difficulty finding a new drama that I felt I might enjoy. All the reviews on dramacrazy (which is where I have watched a majority of my dramas, behind Kimchidrama, Viki, and good ol' youtube), often mention they have only seen the first episode. It helps, in a way - but can be really misleading. The only thing I want the first episode to do is to keep me entertained so I feel committed to watching more. How would Love Rain, Secret Garden, and City Hunter (to use my own experience) make sense if the review is based off the first episode alone??!?!?!??!
Hahaha love the topic....yup I have seen this throughout many dramas the so called "time travelers" who have seen and reviewed the drama before its even finished. Personally it annoys the hell out of me but I don't think we can change these people's minds. I can only do my part by clicking the unhelpful button :P
You know I just realized there IS an unhelpful button. Wow this whole time I kept wondering what button you guys were saying so this whole time I could've done that. XD I feel so silly~
yup gotta love the "not helpful" button :D
saw a review today, it was one sentence long, and they had only seen 3 episodes...but it was actually helpful because it reminded me that show had started and I need to put it on my currently watching list. But I clicked unhelpful...I mean come on...one sentence!

Woah..Goldenseal! I almost didn't recognize you! ;)

yeah..and that's called a 'comment' not a review.
See! I see those one sentences all the time and it unnerves me because I just want to yell, "It's a comment!" But I can't because the virtual world prevents that D: If you can't take the time to do a decent review just do a comment. Comments are bad and people most likely will be reading those more or so I gather. I actually have no idea but that's been my experience in other places.
I also see not so helpful recommendations. How do you know this drama is like this drama only a few episodes in? It drives me mad when people feel like they can predict what a drama is going to be like. Oh well, it's just people wanting to either show off, be first as others have said or try to be seen by everyone. Just a need for attention. I shall be clicking unhelpful a lot. I've only seen so far 2 good reviews and 10 bad reviews that I should've clicked unhelpful on.
jeez i have to agree, i hate it when ppl write the review before they have seen 75% of the drama, in dramaland you never know what will happen at the end. Even if you can guess the ending i believe you have to see it to say whether it was bad or good. i try no to click unhelpful unless there was absolutely nothing i could glean from the review.
Oh My!! I always ranted about this!!! You know what I do? Click "Not Helpful" without even reading it *super strong evil laugh*
OH.MY.GOD! Doctor X is only THREE count that THREE episode sin and yet there are FOUR REVIEWS?! UGH! I wish sites would allow a hide review option! I just hate reading reviews that are useless. :/ Ugh! >>
Oh and this is at another place not here. XD
I, personally, dont write reviews after watching a good or bad drama. Instead I rate it, but ONLY if I know for sure that it's bad. Most of the times, I dont even rate the bad one's i've dropped. Also, I would write a comment on the specific MDL drama page, but never a review. I agree that reviews should not be written after so few episodes. However, you dont have to watch the whole season of a show to realize how awful it is.
