Overrated Dramas?

Have you ever watched a drama that is super popular or gets amazing reviews but when you finish it, it let's you with a "Meh" feeling or you end up disappointed? Let's talk about those here :) For me it was "You're beautiful". I don't like "Gender Bender" but a while ago I decided to watch some of those (Coffee Prince, Hana Kimi, Sungkyunkwan Scandal and YAB). YAB was the last one I watched. I was like: "Well, this one's ALWAYS in the first places in popularity lists, and everyone says it's amazing. Let's give it a try" This was mi face when I finished it (.___.) "And... Is this everything? It was cute, and the music was great but it's NOTHING extraordinary (too average). I've seen Dramas a LOT better than this! Why is it in the first place most of the times?" Share your experiences n_n

110% Queen in Hyun's Man - cliche ridden as all the rest with a very mediocre romance (though the chemistry between the leads was indeed very strong). The way this show was hyped about I expected more than what I got and ended up dropping it in a fit of temper. I know this will not be a popular opinion, but there you have it! :-)

My Name is Kim Sam Soon - Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed this drama. I think Hyun Bin is a god on earth and I adore Kim Sun Ah in everything she does. However, I just found this too unbelievable. I'm sorry poor, overweight, older goofy ladies out there, there is no way in heck a guy like Hyun Bin's character in Sam Soon would ever fall madly in love with you. Not happening. I'm sure that part of the popularity is that wish fulfillment, but it was too unbelievable a relationship for me to think it was as great a show as everyone else does. And the open ending was annoying.

Full House - Is Rain beautiful to look at and totally adorable? Yes. BUT this drama annoys the crap out of me. And I even kind of like goofy contract relationship plots and I like hate becomes love relationship plots too. But I had 2 problems with this one: 1) I hate and could never get past the fact that the lead female character let her friends steal from her like that and then stayed friends with them. It made me so mad that I hated her character for the rest of the show. I mean there are lots of weak female characters in Kdramas, but I still find her to be one of the worst pushovers ever. Just sickening. 2) They drag the denial out too long in this one. Sure, dragging out the love denial is totally normal in Kdramas, but in this one they really take it too far. The denial that they loved each other and the nasty treatment towards each other just went too far and too long (and too repetitive) in this drama. There are better examples of this type of plot to be sure.

Moon that Embraces the Sun - I liked this a lot at first, but then realized I mostly liked the child actors, Jung Il Woo, Kim Soo Hyun and the way it looked. It is very pretty and there is some good acting. But when you get down to it, a whole lot of nothing happens. But the worst is Han Ga In. I mean seriously, THE WORST. As in, that was one of the worst acting performances I've ever seen. She was just atrocious and went a long way to ruin this drama for me. (I can't believe I forgot to put this acting performance on my 'worst' list for 2012.)

Boys Over Flowers - Nothing new here. I think this is widely accepted as one of the most overrated Kdramas. It's just a whole lot of pretty with one hot mess of a plot and one of the world's most annoying songs ever on the OST (that paradise song, whatever it is actually called).

Agree with BOF, couldn't even finish it, dropped it probably after 4th or 5th episode. I was staring at disbelief the shriek box Lee Min Ho's chasing. I'd rather watch him die alone than with her. And there's this year's Bridal Mask, I know almost everybody disagrees, but I didn't like the opening epi at all. I was laughing so hard and for all the wrong reasons. Hit the floor when they started to dance.

To the Beautiful You: No. No. No. People keep trying to tell me to re-watch it and I dropped it for a reason. I don't care how much I find Julian Kang as sexy I will not watch this drama again. Ever. I am sorry but I love the other Hana Kimi versions better, this show so disappointed me! I am mean I found the Nakatsu character adorable but outside of that everything was messed up. It was definitely not Hana Kimi and just another gender bender show with a lot of inaccuracy. Next time TTBY instead of saying you're a remake of Hana Kimi just say you were "inspired"....>> *huffs*

I agree with what people say about BOF....I just liked it for the eye candy (terrible of me I know!!) I didn't really connect much with the female lead. However, I still prefer this over the Japanese version Hana Yori Dango and I watched that first so when it came to BOF it just seemed better in comparison....just my opinon!! I didn't think Scent of a Woman was one of the over rated ones but I dropped that after 7 eps - I found the acting of the male lead to be very wooden...couldn't connect with him at all.

the one i have been most baffled by is Sungkyunkwan Scandal. i do NOT get it. it is boring. there is supposed to be this great romance, and the supporting cast get more screen time than your male lead? dont get be wrong, i'd rather watch the other guys they are way more entertaining. i got aobut half way through it and i just couldnt do it any more
