Omooooooooo, waaaaaaaaae?
omg maaan I saw this and was like .. dry. I was on the site like just a few hours ago. please be a not even funny joke
I'm kind of in denial. I just can't believe it. How can I accept this when they didn't even say why? When I woke up today I really hoped it was only a bad dream. It would be really difficult for me to continue watching dramas, beacuse many sites are unavailable in my country. It's the third time something like this happened to me and once again I feel somewhat empty. DC was my beginning with asian dramas, through DC I learned about MDL and it accompanied me for the last two and half years. I will deeply miss it.

I am an average user, but I'm also a smart user, especially after getting viruses on my computer. If you had read everything I have said, you would have seen that I mentioned that straight after I issued my statement of not understanding torrents. Furthermore, you were being very condescending, and I don't appreciate it. Speaking of which, the word ain't will never be a word to me, so please refrain from using it; after all, it's not rocket science to use correct grammar.
If DC doesn't go back on as a website, I'll most probably die cause all the other drama websites I know don't have most of the dramas I wanna watch and it's the FIRST website I've ever used to watch dramas.
I don't download, either. For one thing, it's easy to get viruses that way. For another, I pretty much use my tablet for everything and Do they even make torrent software for android? I don't even know. Number three, it's a pain in the butt to wait for a download. Especially a torrent. I can watch two or three streaming episodes in the time it takes to download one episode via a torrent. I do have a question though, because it kind of irks me, though I will feel less irked if I receive an answer. Why do subbers get upset when their subs are uploaded to another site? I don't mean the official subbers, I mean the average fan subber who doesn't have official approval from from whatever production company or anything. Technically, they aren't getting a profit or anything and are technically illegally distributing copyrighted material themselves, so what is the difference? I just don't get it. Is it a recognition thing? If whoever streams their work gives them credit, does it make it ok?

yeah, they do. you can download torrent apps and they work just like on your pc, but like I don't really download dramas as well. (first of all, it's more time consuming)

I think it's cause they don't get their recognition then? as in, people thank the uploader and not the subber. That's what i think at least, am really not sure :3

This really sucks ballls, i'm really sad that dramacrazy.net's gone

Does anyone know a site similar to DC, as in - does anybody know a site that's (almost) as equally fast and compact as DC?
The only other site that is in anyway similar that I use is gooddrama.net
This is pretty bad fro dramas community.

Subbers fear getting into legal trouble as the original or secondary source of copy right material. they prefer to keep their file sharing within their comms as a sort of security blanket from getting caught. if ppl post the subs on other sites not only does it risk them getting exposed/caught but also the original source of the drama, anime, scans whatever from the asian countries in question could also get caught. not only that but some companies like johnny's has been known to be very strict with their artist's material so original sources become harder to find and therefore unavailable to sub and release outside asia. aka no love for us fangirls who enjoy the subbers work.

while i appreciate their work and understand their need for self preservation it seems like a foolish concept to me. it took me one very motivated google search to find an arashi variety show subbing comm. and yes i had to jump through hoops to get accepted into it but if i could find it just using google so can any gov't agency who wants to catch ppl sharing copy right material.
See, I think it's foolish, too. If their whole point is to make dramas available to us fans, making us fans jump through hoops just to have the privilege of watching a drama with their subs seems incredibly selfish to me. I fully understand not wanting to get in trouble or get others in trouble, but if they are doing it anyway despite all that, they should be more accepting of their fellow drama fans. One story that sticks out to me is about how a subber got upset that their subs were being uploaded without their permission on a streaming site. In retaliation, they decided to just drop subbing that particular drama, despite that they were the only known person providing subs for it and the drama was already about halfway through. That was just plain mean to everyone. I don't know. I just think that we are all fans and should be happy not only to those who work so hard in providing the subbed dramas, but also to those of us that watch them.

The thing is, subbers supposedly don't get money for their work. It's a free translation by fans, for fans. If they fear legal trouble, just don't add credits to the subs. Sure, some might use them to make money and those who do this (use the hard work of someone to make money themselves) are evil, but it's not like credits help. Any subbing program and you can remove those opening credits and still steal the work. So if subs do not have any indication of the source, they can be distributed around without issue.

Yes, if they want to claim credit for their work and make sure every user knows who made the texts, they have to protect the subs in order not to get in trouble, but if you do something to supposedly reach fans and provide for them, it kind of defeats the purpose to do it in a way that is difficult for people to reach.

I would be terribly pissed if someone used my hard work to make money. I would and I understand them. But the minute you create something the purpose of which is to be shared, it will face such problems as well. If it's not strictly your own work or in some way messes with copyright of other works, there's little that can be done. Either make it password-protected and limit its use, which defeats the purpose or accept that free copyright infringing work is not covered by law, will likely be stolen for gain and take measures for it.
And I had held back for my exams!!! I haven't watched anything in a month and now this!?!?!?! If I had known I would have screwed those finals and just watched dramas ... WHY?!?!?! This was the place where I got distractions from school for five years now, how can they do this???? *crying in a dark corner*
