Sure, some might use them to make money and those who do this (use the hard work of someone to make money themselves) are evil, but it's not like credits help. Any subbing program and you can remove those opening credits and still steal the work. So if subs do not have any indication of the source, they can be distributed around without issue.

Yes, if they want to claim credit for their work and make sure every user knows who made the texts, they have to protect the subs in order not to get in trouble, but if you do something to supposedly reach fans and provide for them, it kind of defeats the purpose to do it in a way that is difficult for people to reach.

I would be terribly pissed if someone used my hard work to make money. I would and I understand them. But the minute you create something the purpose of which is to be shared, it will face such problems as well. If it's not strictly your own work or in some way messes with copyright of other works, there's little that can be done. Either make it password-protected and limit its use, which defeats the purpose or accept that free copyright infringing work is not covered by law, will likely be stolen for gain and take measures for it.

Don't the streaming sites make money from the ads as well? I mean I really wouldn't know if it's profitable seeing as servers have to be paid, so I wonder if they make much money at all. However I remember that with the fantranslations for manga and the fansubs for anime, they'd often have the warning "If you've paid for this you've been ripped off!" (or summat). Nowadays they're always asking to not upload it to streaming sites. And the fansubs are initially offered for free; I'd be bothered too if others made profit, but yeh with the sheer amount of streaming sites (and I like streaming dramas tbh :X), it'd just be something you'd have to accept.
well... my life is over...

WHY?!?!?! This was the place where I got distractions from school for five years now, how can they do this????

*crying in a dark corner*

Me, too. My exams are on Saturday now I can't even study.
The people who upload to streaming sites don't make money. They are just users who sign up for the service in which lets them upload content to stream. The sites themselves earn money via premium membership, meaning that those who are the uploaders are paying for the privilege to have their content streamed with that service. Those with ads also are earning money to keep their site up that way. Technically, no one is earning money from the subbers that way. The site is just earning money from people who are paying for hosting.
Ow so sad, one of my tabs is still of the working DC, but to afraid to push play on the episode :'( Have been trying to find a way to go back to an older version of DC and found this:

http://web.archive.org/web/20130520143028/http://www.dramacrazy.net

Nearly everything works, you can go to latest released and everything!! And it looks the same :D Couldn't watch the episode thought, but it still made me happy to check all the drama's, hopefully others too!!
This.. can't be true. It just can't be. How could they make that kindcof horrible thin to the all drama fans who usually watch dramas on dc?! For example, I watched my dramas in dramacrazy like.. always. I'm too shocked and disapointed j__j
I saw this an hour ago I was like what???? I refuse to use dramafever it never works right for me so ive been watching my dramas on hulu free its a sad sad day :(
There are other streamin sites, but those doesn't have the good layout that dramacrazy had. With the pictures and dates, easy scrolling and so on. So sad, and right now I'm so confused on where to watch my dramas. It feels like when they shut down mysoju - which I liked a lot, but this is even more devastating.
How can this be? When I open MDL it's was the trend, I immediately go to DC and was shocked. I still feel empty, it's depressing. I feel that I lost a important friend, a special one.

Thank you for sharing it ;D

DC and Ac where the only places I really used for streaming.

Same here. I was very shocked when I read it off a friend's status on Facebook and went on the site if they were pulling my leg or not! Unfortunately, they weren't.... :(

Hey guys, I've just tried clicking on the link here and the page seems to still exist with the blue and white layout and everything but the episode is taking its time to load up though. Refreshed a few times and I keep getting the message saying "the connection has timed out because the server at dramacrazy is taking too long to respond". This definitely shows that the site is shut down. Not completely if we can still gain access to the archive page but it's definitely on the go. So I highly doubt it's all a joke - it's not something to pull a prank on thousands of their members and later lose members over it. Plus, I really think they have decided to move on from this project since they weren't making any money and only putting money in from their own pockets so I can understand why they have decided to shut down.

But still.... I will miss the site terribly like you all here T____T It's a very sad week for us Asian Drama Addicts and geeks/nerds.

I know there are other sites to continue watching our shows but nothing will be compared to dramacrazy since I'm also from the UK, not a lot of websites can be accessed without any issues like Viki. I don't like dramafever - only really use it to read entertainment news so that rules out two. I've had a quick look through gooddrama.net like some people have suggested. I don't find the website particularly appealing and they don't seem to have the shows that I'm following, no separate lists for recommendations and not every shows seem to be in alphabetical order... despite everyone saying how good the site is so for the time being, I'm using http://watchdrama.ch/ which is working out to be okay so far. My friend also recommend me these (so I hope it works for everyone else, wherever in the world you are & I hope I can post these streaming sites and not get potentially banned from this site from doing so... :S ).

dramaepisode.com (Layout is better)
www.koreandrama.tv (layout reminds me of mysoju's but noticed some shows are not updated e.g. Monstar). www.epdrama.com (like gooddrama & DC/AC can watch Drama and Anime).
I have been in shock and denial since yesterday, but now it just hit me like a brick wall. I am feeling like a lost child right now. A part of me understands and accepts the fact that its been shutdown, since technically it was illegal. But the bigger, drama addict, part of me is heartbroken and demanding that they put the site back up. :( I am sorry if I am sounding a little melodramatic. I just needed to vent
