i like that idea. even if its just the 3 of us( kawaikochan, ladyfaile and boutux) to start maybe other mdl'ers might join in if we get the ball rolling...maybe not.. it will be our form of having a deadline to push us to keep at the studying. so why not? we each post a short summary of what we learn that day in a way that makes it easy for others to understand since we're not all at the same level. the benefit will be this will be revision and make it easier to retain what we have learnt and we can learn from each other...so why not not? let's start tomorrow?
sure i'm game. it might also help motivate us if someone's ahead, like Kawaikochan, and learning something cool, those of us who aren't that far along yet will be all like "oooh i'm jealous i wanna learn that... imma go study more.. weeee" or something to that effect :p there was a group for this on DC but nobody was posting anymore so i gave up on it
and even if we didn't have time to do any real studying we can at least look up a new word just to contribute something, sorta like a word of the day type thing (or we can even start a word of the day thread actually as a seperate thing)
well i hope we can get this going. this will motivate me to move passed chapter 3 in my japanese text book. and i'm going in march sometime between the 16th and 20th but not sure where exactly yet.
oooh if you end up in/near Tokyo maybe you can catch my brother in law and his friends playing at one of the bars, i'm sure they'll squeeze in a couple shows before their contract is done. you should try to squeeze in a Blue Man Group show while it's still going actually, i think it's done end of march
All of your enthusiasm is amazing lol :p Maybe I will join you three when I am finally able to find time for studying japanese .I already feel like I love the language for ages but I am still having no progress in my language skills for myself :D After the next week my school life will become more relaxing and I plan to get many books about the japanese literature on my birthday :)I just got interested in it recently .... But just to warn beforehand....I am almost an complete novice in japanese so I will just begin in the beginning from everything^_^ And will post things that I have learned ...which will you have had years ago probably xD Mhmm but maybe it is good to relearn the basics :)
Yay! So there are at least 4 of us. I can't promise I'll check in everyday, but I'll definitely do it more often. I'm so totally a beginner though, so we're probably all doing the same things hehe. I started studying Japanese 1 year ago (it was kinda my 2011 resolution), so I'm looking forward to learning much much more :)

What do you guys think about this language proficiency scale: http://french.about.com/library/weekly/aa072701b.htm

My goal for 2012 is to be borderline Conversationalist/Debater.
@Kawaikochan: Wow I have read it and I count myself to the novice xD I wished I would have been an native speaker :) LOL but I am not. I really wish you good luck with your goal I think I will try to become an survivor at first :D
Oh... This thread reminds me that I should start learning Japanese again... Just don't mind my comment... *whistling*

Hehe too late..I saw your comment already :) How about we are both beginning tp learn together? Or how far are you progressed in your study? :p
I know the basics.... I was in camp three times (twice in summer, once in winter) with Japanese... so I learned the basics...

Wow then you are far before me ;) I am an true novice xD

I forgot most of it... My worst nightmare is Katakana I still can't remember which is シ (shi) ツ (tsu) ソ (so) ン (n) ノ (no)... I just can't tell them apart most of the times...
by that scale i'm still a novice, but i'm closer to the survivor level than someone just barely starting. i think their scale is too broad. most guides and sites i use would probably consider me intermediate at this point i had no time for studying at work today, too busy. i might try to squeeze in a livemocha lesson or 2 after supper
Amudo: i remember shi and tsu like this shi: "she" tilts her head i saw this in one of the guides or apps or something or other, i forget what they used for tsu but i remember it as "a tsupid face" as in "stupid" cause it's sort of a wonky smiley face hahaha so and n are trickier but i haven't had problems with no (if you like, remember there's "no" dash over it)
