BUT and its a big but.....i was gripped by this series from start to end however theres some flaws

Plus - storyline pace kept me engaged and wanting to see the next episode [induced binge-watching all 66 eps)
Thats a good sign of a good series

Minus- inconsistencies with the logic of some plot storylinex - there were better options for some actions to follow in a story

Plus - costumes and scene sets elaborate, ornate and intriguing .... great portrayal of asian culture

Minus - the lack of detail to the main characters origins and purpose from the beginning to set the context
Plus - Main lead female was par excllence Yang Mi is an outstanding actress who i hope well see in western movies and same with ethan Juan both characters filled the screen with mean as emotion theyd rock in western movies

“Minus - the lack of connectedness from the opening scene to the ending and the way the ending was executed the main LETDOWN for me was the ending it had no connectedness to the opening scene out of the millions of ways this series could have ended this one did not do justice to Fuyao’s journey and achievements or to Wuji’s role in her life either....i would have given 2 episodes to lead in an epic ending instrad was left hanging and wondering why that ending

Overall im a fan of this movie but the ending spoiled it for me

Worth Rewatching

I enjoyed this drama more than I thought I would. The opening scene grabbed my attention to keep watching and to see what was going to happen next. A big thank you to the cast, crew, costume, directors, and writers. The supporting cast also did a great job. Uncle Zhou was so lovable.

I thought Ethan Juan and Yang Mi did an outstanding job in portraying their characters and had great chemistry. Ethan’s acting was exceptional especially his emotions and action scenes throughout the story. This is the first time I've watched Ethan Juan in a film, he is quite attractive and has great facial expressions. One couldn't tell if he was going to kiss Fuyao or do something else, what a tease. He has a great body so thank you directors for letting the viewer enjoy his incredible physique. Actors work very hard to keep in shape and to be able to show off their great-looking physique is a motivation for them to keep in shape. I enjoyed it when he was pretending to be an idiot, he made me chuckle. The interaction between Yuan Bao and Wuji was spontaneous and the cutest. The hamster was really intelligent with special talents. Yang Mi was great as usual. I’m impressed that she was able to do all of the physical movements. She did a great job, especially in portraying a cursed evil demon at the end. Ethan Juan and Yang Mi work very hard in the martial arts and physical action scenes, and they did a phenomenal job.

The scenes were just right with the right amount of flashbacks. The writers and directors did well in taking the viewers through the five kingdoms. It's not often that I watch dramas with 66 episodes without skipping a few. The storyline moved along in the right amount so I did watch all episodes. I'm in the process of re-watching this drama to catch what I missed the first time around. This drama is now on my all-time favorite to-watch list.

Very good story and actings. Every episode is interesting, you will follow up all the episodes and would not skip the detail of the story. I enjoy watching this drama and will rewatch again. Love the actors and actresses, all of them are beautiful and handsome. I think most of (the main character) YangMi's dramas are worth to watch, her acting is good and she would pick the good story for her project. After the last episode, feel like don't want the story end.
High recommend this drama.

I thought this drama was great. The cast was likeable, the cinematography was great, the fighting was impeccable, and the story line was decent.

I however, was more drawn to the chemistry between the two leads. The story line seemed all over the place to me, and confusing. At times, I'm still not sure who Fuyao is, and where she comes from. After reading the reviews, I finally realized there are moments where Fuyao blacks out = breaking seals, but there were times where she blacks out and it was more than 5x. When the last seal broke, I thought it was like the 6th or 7th time.

I pretty much just enjoyed the cast.

The script is captivating to the extent of overwhelming.

Yeah I've drop this...

Congratz to this drama to become the first drama that I've drop this year. Haha.... How much I hope I can endure this drama due to Yang Mi. But the overall story make me less and less interested with the whole picture. Even the flirting between our lead can't make me hang on to this drama, more over because all of the dubbing also make me less and less interested with this drama.

Long time heard about this drama really make me interested to watch this. But for me this drama talk about too many kingdom that I need to put my attention, too many political issue that I don't give a damn care. If only they finished one kingdom at a time maybe I can endure more. But for me, one kingdom haven't finished they already move to another kingdom. That's just too much. More over about the 5 color stone and it's connection to Fu Yao still also so long to talk about.

And that's it. Enough too many things happen in the drama just push my button & I just can't take it anymore

Bad acting, bad plot, bad everything

A lower class FL with amnesia and a super important destiny to be discovered? Check. FL having a childhood crush on a sect leader's studly son? Check. A jealous side chick who likes the sect leader's son and hates FL because the son likes FL? Check. Side chick keeps bullying FL because of her jealousy? Check. An adoptive uncle giving FL a super important artifact to help her find her identity? Check. A mysterious ML who is so much better than the sect leader's son and who falls in love with FL? Check. FL going on a quest to uncover her destiny and meeting a slew of side characters to help her on the way? Check. Want something new and interesting? You won't find it here.

Some acting was just terrible. I wasn't sure whether Zhan Beiye was a serious character or a caricature because of Gao Wei Guang's extreme overacting and dramatic staring. Lots of characters yelled a lot instead of just speaking. There were also long periods of time where ML and FL were separated. At those times, Yang Mi didn't have the acting chops to carry the story on her own because of her consistent stiff acting.

The plot was repetitive and kept recycling itself. ML and FL met up briefly, got separated, then they met again, then got separated again. Pei Yuan was unintelligent and completely uninteresting as a villain. She had no personality outside of her superficial hatred for Fuyao and an endless pursuit to kill her. Again and again she would act out to try to kill Fuyao and fail, just to try again and fail again. There was zero entertainment in that.

Overall, the drama started out interesting but the plot quickly frizzled out into bland and repetitive tropes.
