Everything else other than likes. Starting with -
X FL's mean character and they dragged her sickness too long
X ML being a pushover
X The pacing of the story, it got damn boring at the end of the story, that I had to use +30sec and 2x speed button back to back.
X Slow sloth moments with all ballad OSTs had me yawn in every single episode.
X DAMN PEOPLE CAN CRY, I wouldn't know if I didn't watch this. They cried in almost every episode. Drunk crying, happy crying, cute crying, sad⁹⁹ crying, angry crying and so on.
(I shouldn't have picked this one to watch considering the title being filled with tears -_-)
X And WhyTF did that old selfish geezer escaped from this misery?! He's the root cause of this mishap, now when he saw he is in deep mud, run away without explaining, leaving his offsprings in pain. Strange!!!
If this drama was one of my first dramas, I would have loved it and rated it close to 10. But after watching hundreds of dramas I have outgrown this genre and developed a taste of my own where bleak plots like this completely failed to entertain me. They had big budget, star artists, pretty faces, crystal clear cinematography but lacked to grip attention of the audience with less intriguing plot.
This is an one time watch only. You watch, you finish, you forget and move on in life. But why did I watch? Because my completionist brain said "you've come so far to drop it now, deal with it". >.<
My Rating: 5/10 ʕ–_–ʔ
If I have to explain the drama in one word that would be, "BORING".
Bittersweet journey to the core of "yourself"!
I won't make my review unnecessarily lengthy. Obviously you're here for "What's there to like?" Let me answer that for you...When I started watching Yumi's cells S1 honestly I came for Ahn Bo Hyun. But stayed for the plot. Why? Because it the plot speaks for us. I felt myself in Yumi. She's You, she's us! The emotional rollercoaster we face everyday in our daily life, the hurdles we overcame, the breakups we've been through, the thoughts left unsaid, those overwhelming situations made me laugh, angry, and cry too.
In the mid of S2 I was really confused about the plot. The characters and screenwriters successfully put us into a abyss of contemplation. Which I must say is worth contemplating for!
Ms. Yumi earned my respect. She isn't perfect. She knows how to compromise but she'll never settle for less.
And lastly the beautiful OSTs Ling Ling, Shinning on Your Night both just stole my <3
If you don't want to watch it yes you can skip, no big deal. But if you watch this till the end, I can assure you won't regret it.
In friendship, age has no bar.
"If we only accept pretty things, then this whole town will be wiped out, won't it?"Let's go karaoke is a random slice-of-life movie where you meet two bizarre yet perfect combination of characters in a questionable wholesome situation. A 40yr old yakuza Kyouji asks a 14yr old choir boy Satomi to teach him “how to sing”. After reading the synopsis you would expect a scary looking yakuza threatening a timid school boy to get what he wants. But in reality it's the opposite. How? That's for you to discover.
The movie is pretty much about the adolescent boy teaching him how to sing and founding himself in unusual situations with scary yakuza members. The absurdity of the whole plot is the juxtaposition of scary yakuza image and them taking karaoke singing competition so seriously like their life depends on it. Thanks to this film I found another banger “Kurenai” >.<
The bgm and hilarious singing adds up to it.
It's only possible for Japan to deliver this kind of unique plot. Throughout the film you watch two mismatched people come closer and forming a bond. Both the actors skillfully depicted the intricate emotions of their distinct characters.
I'm that type of person who reads the manga/webtoon first before diving into the series/movies. The mangaka, Yama Wayama has my heart and soul. Her art style is just my type. I read and watched “Captivated by you” long ago which I absolutely adored it but sadly was unaware of this manga. The way she combined and delivered all the essence of characters in panels is just phenomenal.
Definitely recommend them, both the one-shot manga and its lovely adaptation.
A toxic relationship worth the watch!
This a story of a stand in who was accustomed being a shadow of an actor until he met his love of his life who tore his peaceful life and made it chaotic as hell. Once a stand-in, always a stand-in.• It was not all good and flawless but I liked the toxicity (iykyk) and pitiful character of Joe. He's the reason I stayed till the end. He deserved all the happiness yet he get to suffer more than anyone. He's literally the star of the show and all the other characters were a bit amateurish.
• Up and Poom's chemistry is to die for!!! You hate him in one episode and then on the other your brain somehow starts to sympathize, you hate it but can't help it. I wouldn't lie, my heart was played by Ming just like Joe's. It's time to accept we're all sadist in some kind of way.
• Notable things I liked- random blind yogi baba in a foggy forest drinking tea and doing nothing, Ming's assistant's oversized blazer, a thai gangster wearing turban?!? and rare outburst of Joe in just one episode.
Breaking down the nagatives:
-0.5 for all the hiccups in acting and action scenes which made me laugh and yes I skipped a few of them because they looked like kids fighting lol. I want perfection. Period.
-1 for Sol's existence and his awful idol performance. Wtf got him to Korea I wonder. He better improve his acting skills or say bye bye to showbiz industry
-0.5 for Ming who let Joe fall from the stairs while he was just standing like an idiot (╥﹏╥)
After criticizing all these things I'll still say I liked it. Yes I'm a generous giver as this was a thai adaptation of danmei which we didn't lost to censored bromance, so I have give them a score they truly deserve!
Heart fluttering rom-com quickly moved downhill with another murder mystery *tsk tsk*
Finally, FINALLY I finished Lovely Runner.Phew! That was a damn loooong ride. It should have ended with min 8ep max 12eps. But no, they exaggerated it untillll they couldn't. (─.─||)
Plot:
# It was good, funny, cute, lovely until the murder mystery emerged out of nowhere. I properly watched until ep 12, after that I skipped a lot and watched only the important scenes.
# Lovey-dovey sweet scenes felt really monotonous and full of cringe.
# The amount of tears FL cried, she completed her quota of crying for a year.
# The number of times she said "Sun jae-ya⁸⁹; Oh Sun jae-ya.⁹⁹" is unhealthy.
Acting: 8/10, -1 for Im sol's occasional overacting, and -1 for dumb killer. (٥↼_↼)
OST: 100/10! The best OST of the year goes to Lovely Runner. Woo seok's voice was really soothing and on top of that 10cm, ah, no words for him, just brilliant! ( ◜‿◝ )♡
Re-watch:
Idk if I can. I mean idk if I can watch the thrill part, all the crying and bullshit melodramatic scenes all over again. But yes I do have my favourite parts that I will be replaying a few more times (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)
Opinion about the characters:
Im sol: Girl! you can't change someone's entire life even if you change it thousand times. Learn your lesson, don't fuss, don't be oversmart and just move forward ┗(•ˇ_ˇ•)―→
Tae-sung: Idk if you know this, this character only existed in the drama version cuz in webtoon there's no Tae-sung. But man he stole my heart with his charming appearance. He's a best buddy you can have in your life. But one thing I would say is stop obsessing over other people's girlfriend, especially if she's your ex. (*_*)
Sun-jae: Ah...the heartthrob. His dimple. I'll stop here. But man was he stupid? No, he was extra stupid! He was straight up obsessed with Sol. Why would you remember a girl you met 15 yrs ago, who didn't even bat her eyes at you and keep messing up your head thinking about her?! (ノಠ益ಠ)ノ
The killer: Dude, ahjussi find a better job in next life, it ain't worth it. What a crackhead dumb killer, do your research first, watch some crime documentaries and then think about doing something new ¯\_( ͠° ͟ʖ °͠ )_/¯
My Rating: 7/10 (5 for overall, 0.5 for OST and 0.5+0.5+0.5 for Tae-sung, Sun-Jae and Im-sol's dimples) ♡(ӦvӦ。)
Bloodline doesn't make you family, but heart does.
This is a story of the friendship of a mother-daughter duo who got each other's back through thick and thin. Let me be clear, this is neither a rom-com nor a heavy emotional drama but a proper mature drama with no adult scenes. I refer this as a mature drama because they deal with certain emotions which are not easily understandable for a teenager or a minor. If you're one, then I doubt you will enjoy this as much as I did.The plot revolves around the world of this duo. Here the daughter, Jin hee is a lot mature than her mother Eun mi. Eun mi is an independent, feisty, confident woman who likes to have fun, be reckless but never let anyone even her daughter control her life. She is her own boss who spice up this duo's life. On the other hand, Jin hee is calm, confident and a diligent daughter who works as a police officer. They have different opinions and values of life, but they try to hurt each other's feelings. They're more like constantly bickering friends than anything. At first, Eun mi's character might feel selfish, but she has every reason to act like that. She became a single mother at the age of 16 and never got to enjoy her life like normal youngsters. And Jin hee got matured at an early age because of her situation. They are very protective of each other. Like yin and yang they both of them complete each other. The chemistry between these two is too awesome! Sometimes they'll make you laugh, sometimes they'll make you cry too.
Another reason for calling this a mature drama is because how they dealt with the family issues. At first when Eun mi started dating Jin hee's biological father after 30 years, I thought this is weird. how come she can act like nothing happened and date the person who was unaware of his own child. Then she declared very clearly that even if she date this person Jin hee will always be her top priority and irrespective of Jin hee's relation with person she will be her child, ONLY HER'S. They were awkward and hesitant at first but they overcome that and accepted this whole thing as a fresh start. The biological father never demanded to be treated as her father because he can never fill the blank space in Jin hee's life. She's happy as the way things are and so there's no need to complicate things further. They respected each other's space which created a harmony in them.
From the very beginning they got me hooked. The drama, suspense, emotional scenes, all were shot very realistically. I adored each character even if they were flawed. Many viewers said that they wanted to see the romance between Jin hee and Jae won but let's not forget that main lead here is the Mother-daughter duo, they focused on the relationship between these two.
It was an interesting journey to core of a mother-daughter relationship. Almost felt like I was watching myself on the screen.
A little bit of sugar won't give you diabetes and might enhance your platter <3
I don't know if I can find any bad part in this BL even if I search with my magnifying glasses on...all I can see is spotless acting and raw transparent adult emotions with relatable characters to swoon over.YES it's cute, fluffy, refreshing and calming.
For me the most beautiful thing is that Togawa didn't forced his feelings on Nouze-san, this story happened naturally. Being single and close to 40 Mr. Nouze must have felt his life boring and uninteresting. At that time Togawa came into his life like a breath of fresh air. They both understood their boundaries as subordinates.
They are adults in love and but can giggle like a child over little things.
I can conclude this as a healthy BL to feed on whenever you're tired. Plots like this tells us that love at first sight still do exist and stays for a longer time, which makes me wonder why something like this doesn't happen to us :')
Breaking the wall of disappointment, you came into my life as a ray of hope.
This is a story of two teenagers acting like adults just to be found that their inner child is still alive and yearning for the love and affection they never got.The drama that I almost skipped had me in tears. I can't explain to you enough how much I could connect with their storyline. This was very different than any other love story where the word "love" was never uttered but understood in their own way.
💟The things I appreciate:
• First of all, I wasn't interested in another high school stepbrother falling in love, but I was pleasantly surprised at how neatly they had woven the storyline so intricately that you couldn't let go.
• It's not easy to accept someone as your parent with whom you're not biologically connected. So Sheng Wang not accepting Tian's mother as his mother was normal. Most importantly, the way he accepted is praiseworthy. Like, I accept you as my family, but definitely you can't replace my mother. Fair enough.
• The best part of the series is its willingness to give "time" to both characters and them accepting the circumstances. It's not like they started hating or loving each other all of a sudden; it was a continuous natural process of them coming to terms with being brothers and then realising maybe they have affection and consider each other more than brothers. Things weren't rushed but shown in a slow, subtle manner.
• Sheng Wang and Jang Tian's past experiences created a deep hollow in their hearts; they closed their hearts and isolated themselves from the whole world until they met each other. But the process of them getting to know about each other in small situations had me wondering how small things hold important memories in our brain that we don't know we had. A simple gesture of avoidance holds a heap of grudges in our hearts, which slowly eat us from the inside.
• The side characters are lovely. Realistically, when you have several comforting, reliable helping friends like Gao Tian, Li Jia, Xu Tian, etc., then there's always someone who's not friendly and jealous of you, like Jia Hao.
📝Room for improvement:
•Actually NONE. I'm neither worried about it's runtime or long episodes nor any side characters because everyone was flawed, and they and I both accepted them as they are, beautifully broken.
About the 2nd season, I do want that; I do want to know how they'll deal with and explain their simple feelings in this complex world, but I do realise some things should be left as they are, unfinished and unsaid; that's how real things get in life. That's why I could connect with this so well.
Overall, if you are not worried about teenagers being absolutely frustrating, having a slow-paced storyline, having no physical intimacy, but having a pure connection of soul and heart, then this is for you.
GRITTY AND INTENSE THRILLER TO BOGGLE YOUR MIND
I watched this series back in 2019 while I was on a trip with my family and decided to binge watch all the downloaded episodes in the bus. That was dumb. I agree cuz after watching this series I was left dazed and in denial for days. Last time I was this baffled when I watched the "House of Secrets: The Burari Deaths" docu series.
From first 5 min to last minute I was hooked! I couldn't take my eyes off the screen. All of characters were written equally weird and wonderful. Not only Im Si Wan and Lee Dong Wook acted well but also the other characters like Park Jong Hwan, Lee Joong ok and Lee Jung Eun created an eerie aura which will make you realise how gruesome-ly each characters are real.
TRASH⁹⁹⁹
If you don't want to f*ck with your own mind don't watch this and save yourself from watching THE MOST humiliating pathetic portrayal of "love".In the beginning I felt this is gonna be quite promising and artistic, so I was anticipating for a real emotional wreck kind of romance.
OMG I was sooo right about this drama being an emotional wreck. I was left in confusion why the hell I started this drama in the first place. The cinematography was soo good, but the story was all over the place. The FL got on my nerves whenever she was on camera. She was rather pathetic. And the ML was cocky manipulating sadistic b**tard. I'm beyond irritated. This is probably THE MOST artistic trashy disastrous kdrama I ever wasted my time on.
Ngl OSTs were good tho 😒
You're welcome XOXO
Whatever you do, you can't change what is destined to happen!
A story of a lost soul who tries to make things right in the present after being in the future for 4 minutes. It had a grand start filled with thrills, naked white butts, and lots of anticipation of great content. Another BL with a time travel theme got me interested in watching. It was going very well; I understood what was going on and created a link in my mind. But soon after episode 4, things started going downhill. I lost track of what was going on and totally got confused with the storyline. If I were to name a drama as a show-off, then this is the shinning example of it. Wait, this is literally synonymous to BOC now!
Even though I understood what was happening at the last 4 minutes of EP 8, in general the story feels like a fever dream where you feel like you understand the situation but still can't figure out what and why that is happening. And after waking up, you completely forgot what it was all about. The storyline is so erratic that I lost interest in the middle. There were different storylines, and they wanted to give attention to every one of them, but while doing that, they lost the actual significance of the show. Maybe it's not that complicated, but sure, it is confusing. Still, I watched it because I wanted to reach the conclusion. So I can't really point out what I liked or disliked, as I feel like I'm in a daze to conclude anything.
It had a big budget, great artists, and beautiful and aesthetic cinematography, but it fell short in terms of storytelling and binding the whole thing together. Again, it is proved that BOC failed to deliver a compelling story and tried to hide it with NC scenes and handsome faces. I had high expectations, but now I'm utterly disappointed. I can't rate this show high just because of its high content value. I do enjoy the complicated storylines, but I can't lose my brain cells over 8 episodes of content. Maybe I'm too dumb for this; it's not for me.
You're that succulent of my life who has soaked up my dry spell!
This drama is a perfect blend of fluff and comedy with a dash of thrill and suspense. Earlier I was complaining about how BLs were lacking in grabbing the attention of the audience with shallow storylines, but after watching this, I am utterly pleased to inform you that it lived up to my expectations wonderfully. As an introvert, the words I say are lesser than the conversation I have in mind. So Ryoma's inner monologues were very interesting to me, as he finds it hard to express his feelings. There comes Haruto, who has lightened up Ryoma's world while keeping his own darkness inside. It was painful to see Haruto suffering from nightmares and his heartbreaking past. The way they embraced each other throughout their ups and downs warmed my heart. This beautiful partnership has transcended all the hardships.
If you come to the comedy part, you'll see whenever Ryoma starts dreaming of becoming the protector of law, suddenly the music changes to something serious and pensive, but when he stops daydreaming, suddenly the atmosphere gets filled with squeaky sounds of his succulents talking—the transition is too funny!
Overall it's a fun drama filled with emotions and entertainment combined with some serious situations. No cringe, neither overly sexualized nor overly cutesy, but just the right amount of everything bound together to give you an exciting plot to look out for.
What a bummer!
THIS is the type of story that should be finished within 6-8 eps with 15 min runtime. There's nothing to follow. Mediocre storyline, acting, full of cliche tropes mixed with unnecessary misunderstandings... ughhh.Overwhelming beginning gradually concluded an underwhelming ending. Totally wasted my time, wish I could get back my precious time.
If you have nothing else to watch, you're bored to death, have only one show available to watch, then you can watch this series.
I'm angry (ง •̀_•́)ง!!!
Sensible honest love has problem too?
I'm going to give my honest thoughts about this series. There are things that I didn't like and something I really loved. The first thing I didn't liked about the series is the ML is very much objectified okay that's the biggest issue of the series but on the other hand it's true that not only women, but men are also victims of sexual harassment. It's very brave of GMMTV to show this side of the entertainment industry.
The other thing that I didn't like was the FLs overprotective grandfather. It's understandable that Pam's grandparents really love her, but her grandfather is overly overly protective towards Pam and that's really annoying.
Pam's mother is weirdly unbothered about her 1st child and is an epitome of an irresponsible mother. I know that's how the character really is, and this is a proof that mother like her really do exist.
But the chemistry between the ML and FL is very very good, Namtan has polished acting skills and Luke's acting skills developed over time.
Regardless of the flaws something about this series makes me wanna wait for an entire week. It's interesting and I love it.
You think you stole my heart? But it was already yours to begin with!
This is the story of a righteous potato and a dumb fox who met each other at the right time but in the wrong place. Later, the series delves into their chaotic lives to show that separated, they're miserable, but together, they're sunshine on earth.✓Things that I appreciated:
• The main lead's natural chemistry is what brought us here. Storyline is important, but without camaraderie between the actors, establishing good content is impossible. Yin and War's portrayal of Jack and Joker showed us that with mutual understanding and support they can conquer the world!
• The main motto of the series was not to make a goofy light rom-com but to create an everlasting impression on the audience. The thrill, suspense, comedy, and romance it delivered were equally divided into parts that didn't outshine each other.
• The brilliant side characters Ama and Toey Ting. They were those supportive pillers; without them, the series would be incomplete. Ama's wisdom and Toey Ting, the Smarty pants, brighten up the mood instantly whenever they're on screen. The best supporting role goes to them!
• In the era of "who's more dominant" talks, we got our vice kings! One dialogue, "Let me lead today," warmed up my heart. This proves they're not showing what the audience wants but what they should expect. They set the bar high; no chance of defeat!
• This is not just a BL drama; it's more than that. It's a story of rays of hope finding their way through the darkest corner of hell. This is a tale of unprecedented happiness you get for fighting for your loved ones, i.e., family. Outside the blood-related family, you create bonds, which lead to an orientation of a family that accepts you for who you are and makes you shine beyond your shortcomings.
• I loved how the storyline was not entirely dependent on romance but had a proper story to tell, which created a huge anticipation throughout the episodes. The audience didn't get bored but rather was immersed in it the whole time.
✓Room for improvement:
•I would really appreciate it if action scenes were shown more naturally than memorised steps. Although they improved a lot from the first episode till the last one. This was my only problem; otherwise, it was a perfect series from start to finish.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the rollercoaster ride of anticipation, disappointment, sadness, and joy. It was thrilling to begin with. All those comedic elements did give a moment of relief and rehabilitation from the series of serious situations. Highly recommend. If you're looking for something fun and thrilling with a dollop of romance blooming, then this is it.
9/10 and 0.5 for my immense love for Yinwar (≧◡≦) ♡ they'll be dearly missed!
